Thomas M. Hewitt Jr of New York, a wartime flyer and former Wallingford resident, proposes an eight seat transcontinental and global flight to honor Raoul Lufbery and the Lafayette Escadrille. A tri motor biplane with four crew and two passengers would depart from New York, reach Paris by May 30 1928 for a Lafayette dedication, then fly to San Francisco Honolulu Tokyo Vladivostok Shanghai Hong Kong Hanoi Calcutta Delhi Kabul Tehran Constantinople and European capitals before ending in Paris and returning to New York with support from the Wallingford Chamber of Commerce.
