The eighth graders completed event and algebra tests this week while literature, science and geography units progress. Seventh graders study trees and human biology as they prepare outside field work. Third and fifth grade classes showcased projects, safety lessons, and a Mexican exhibit with student buyers and a plant display. Measles disrupted Cain’s grade school operetta forcing a schedule change.

Oscar Fuhrman of Huron South Dakota a former Afton resident was buried in the Afton cemetery Friday afternoon. Funeral services were conducted by the Peterson minister and the deceased had numerous relatives. His wife was buried here several years ago.
