Notice to qualified electors of the Aurelia Community School District in Cherokee and Buena Vista counties Iowa announces a special election at Aurelia City Hall on April 6 1955 from noon to 7 PM Two Directors will be elected to serve until the next regular election two directors until the second regular election and one director until the third regular election Treasurer to serve until July 1 following the second regular election Nomination papers due with the Cherokee County Superintendent of Schools by noon on the tenth day prior to the election Earle F Berkler County Superintendent of Schools Cherokee County Iowa dated March 28 1955.
Mr and Mrs Robert Booth entertained at a 6:30 dinner last Thursday evening in East Afton and Elk with Mrs William Booth noted as guest of honor. The event reflected a cordial social gathering for local residents.
Birthdays of Mr and Mrs Henry Buddenhagen celebrated at Easter themed tables. 500 game yielded high scores for W F McCabe and Mrs Buddenhagen with John Booth and Mrs Quentin Anderson close behind. Traveling prize went to Jerry Booth. Marvin Peterson home from hospital with leg cast. Additional visits noted from Corringtons Booths Bengtsons Ammons families.
Rev. Delbert Cowley leads Mt Olive Baptist Church with Sunday School at 10 a.m. and Worship at 11 a.m. The message is Wan dering Sweep and a Burden Bear ing Saviour. A 1:30 p.m. Baptist Youth Fellowship follows, then an 8 p.m. Evening service ending with a TV program.
Aurelia Congregational Church outlines Holy Week events including a Wednesday 8 p.m. film show and prayer service at the church. Thursday 8 p.m. Communion at Mt. Olive, Friday Good Friday 12 3 p.m. vigil at Aurelia Methodist. Choirs rehearse Friday. Easter sunrise service planned by Pilgrim Fellowship.
