The Mt Olive community lists attendees at Grandma Gustafson's funeral in Alta last Wednesday afternoon including Will Slahn Lincoln THaln Gerald and families Rev Henry Olsen Bertil Petersen Oscar Larson Jess Weatherman Mart Crippen Oscar Smith Oscar Gustafson Laverne Gustafson Maurice Petersen and Alfred. Visitors to Fred Kretz home at Diamond Center were noted last Tuesday evening. A family night supper followed at TL Bengsten home in Cherokee and Earl Crippen hosted supper guests with Robert McMaurtin of near Cherokee.
A wedding at Cherokee united Betty Whitcomb and Paul Witcombe with a reception for 86 guests at the bride's parents home. Attending were relatives from Aurelia Storm Lake Cherokee and Aurelia including Mr and Mrs Alfred Simonsen Mr and Mrs Lawrence Mongan and Mr and Mrs Karl Peterson.
Miss Demaris DeBelt married Richard Wayne Witcombe in Cherokee at the Church of Christ on March 19. The bride, granddaughter of Mrs. Alfred Simonsen of Aurelia, wore a formal gown as pink and yellow snapdragons and palms framed the altar. Rev. W C Daily officiated, with music by pianist Mrs Clarence Cave during the ceremony.
Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta hosts a week filled with events led by Pastor Carl W. Larson. The Luther League challenges Young Married Men to a basketball game at 7 p.m. with two games and a free will offering for a piano fund. Palm Sunday and Holy Week services include union programs, prayers, and a King of Kings sound film, ending with Good Friday services. A separate note reports a Leghorn hen belonging to Jack Tsenberger near Osceola laid an axe as a supreme effort and died two days later.
