Iowa primary vote among smallest in history
The Iowa primary produced one of the smallest turnouts on record with 165 860 votes for the Republican gubernatorial race and 44 859 for the Democratic senatorial contest. Unofficial results show Dolliver unseating Gilchrist in the 14 year congress tenure shift, Evans upsetting Lundy for lieutenant governor, and multiple uncontested nominations across parties. The Iowa liquor control commission will close stores June 26 through July 1 to issue new liquor books due to whisky rationing.
