Gillette to Select Midshipman Applicants for Naval Academy

Congressman Guy M. Gillette will nominate one principal and three alternates for the U S Naval Academy appointment at Annapolis before March 4 1934. An elimination test in Cherokee will be held likely in September for applicants 16 to 20 years old, with a preliminary exam possible February next and exemptions via school certificates subject to a qualifying sub examination.

Residents and Visitors Attend Local Gatherings in Afton Area

Afton and vicinity residents listed visiting relatives and friends in Cherokee Storm Lake Alta Larrabee and Aurelia. Dale Sleezer and family attended a Sunday school picnic at Storm Lake. Funeral services for Mrs Cannon were held in Afton with Rev Arrasmith officiating and interment at Afton cemetery. Martha Phipps returned from Chicago after a Worlds Fair week.
