Mrs. George Schafer visited at her daughter’s home in Alta with Mr and Mrs Homer Anderson and family. Others included Mrs Schafer’s Sioux City relatives and Ida Grove connections. Delbert Winterhof graduated as his classmate. Roy Neel hosted Dec oration Day visits with Bart Neel. Lydia Riecke spent Mother's Day weekend with Bart Neel’s family. John Irwin family stayed with Guy Rupp in Littleton. Bob Forbes and nephews attended Mary McCarty’s Commencement at Pomeroy and joined a post ceremony coffee.
The Aurelia Freshman Sophomore track team won its own meet on May 15 scoring 7342 points. Sutherland 69, Halstein 55, Alta 484. Event winners include Dave Hodam in the 100 yd dash and 220 yd dash and Tony Coombs in the mile.
Friends and relatives gathered at the Wilbert Otto home after Baccalaureate and Commencement Exercises. Guests attended from Seattle Cedar Falls Royal Cherokee and Aurelia. The American Legion Auxiliary will meet Tuesday in the Legion Room in honor of Gary's graduation.
Dora Burma born June 9 1874 in Heeg Holland was the daughter of Peter and Gertrude Squatanus. She came to the United States in 18 and married Andrew C Buma on August 31 of that year. The couple moved from Massachusetts to Aurelia in 1919 and made their home there until.
Mrs. Buma died Wednesday May 24 after moving to a Cherokee nursing home eight years earlier. She leaves son Charles of Cherokee and three daughters Hazel Stutz of Aurelia Gertrude Hunstock of Early and Grace Hart of Fond du Lac Wisconsin. Three grandchildren and three great grandchildren survive. Husband died September 11 1958. Funeral Friday May 26 at Wharton Funeral Home with Rev H O Proett conducting. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers named Robert Orr Harry Carlson George Scott Harry Howell Roy Matzdorff Lat Robinson.
