Afton and vicinity residents share visits with relatives across Iowa and South Dakota. Charles Zwick of Cherokee stayed with Earl Zwick, while the Farm Bureau gathering at At ten Center drew a large crowd. The Matzdorff Cubs defeated Quimby on Parker field as Ed Fitts and Glenn Parker travelled with Mrs White head of Victoria Texas to Cedar Rapids for a homebound trip. Mrs Cave’s grandmother’s death delays the A C C meeting until August 1. Will Henley mourns his father’s sudden Missouri death and travels for the funeral. Dorothy Holmes visited Aurelia friends. Powers family moved. Laverne Holmes visited Alta.

Birth Notice and Local Visits Highlight Afton Area

Mrs Frank Sanborn of Cherokee spent a few days last week at the Wm Mummert home. Relatives here received word of the birth of a daughter to Mr and Mrs Harlan Sexton of Meriden last Saturday. Mrs Ammon Sexton spending the week at the Harlan Sexton home near Meriden. Ernest Sweet of Minneapolis and Byron Sweet of Dows, Iowa visited old friends in Afton Saturday forenoon.

Cherokee Visitors and Community Notes Across Storm Lake Area

Mr and Mrs C G A Peterson were Cherokee visitors Sunday. Bess Pitcher left for Lake Okoboji to spend the week with the Hankens at their Aurelia summer home. Mr and Mrs Wm Haight and children and Miss Helga Peterson attended a family picnic at West Park Storm Lake. Miss Ebba Swanson helping at Leroy Goettsch home in Afton township. Ardig Hickey visited Frank Nordstrom in Cherokee last week. Frank Huseman ill with appendicitis and operated on in Alta hospital, improving slowly. Missionary society met at Mrs W E Haight’s Pilot township home. Frank Nordstrom and children visited Henry Everhart and Arlie Nordstrom in Cherokee. Misses Estella and Luella Hickey Ardis Hickey Hazel Weise Gladys Maltbun from Aurelia went to Lake Okoboji Friday for a few days then returned Tuesday. Little Rena Green ill the past week. Pete Vised dined with Cherokee relatives Tuesday. callers at B A Samuelson home. Theodore Streed lost a horse last week to heat.

Mr Olive and Mrs Sawwell along with Mrs Magnuson were Aurelia callers Wednesday. Carl Magnuson and Uno visited Axel Johnson home near Aurelia Wednesday evening. Carl Magnuson and Ruth Sawvell were Cherokee visitors Thursday. Edith Gillet returned home Wednesday from a trip through the wear Aix.

Community Social at Church and Cherokee Outing

An evening at the church featured entertainment by Mr. Ferris and a crowd enjoying songs and a screen display. The Sawwell family attended Cherokee events and a lake swim, while tributes and birthday greetings were shared at home gatherings. Local activities included hog hauling, Sunday services, and a B P A meeting with Irme Bengtson leading a Christ in Cherry Blossom Land theme.
