J G Redinbaugh of Lagan Iowa an old Civil War veteran aged 79 recalls total blindness from cataract in his right eye four years ago and his left eye fifty years blind. After a failed Omaha surgery he consulted Dr A H Weber who operated on the left eye at a Logan hotel restoring sight with no pain and his wife caring for the eye at home.
The Adjutant General issues a policy for youths aged 13 to 21 seeking enlistment. Applicants under the registration age must prove age with birth or baptismal records or school certificate, or an affidavit from a parent or guardian with guardianship proof. Ages 18 to 21 may enlist without parental consent but must show documentary age evidence.
