Heavy wildlife deaths on roads prompt caution urged
Conservation officers report a spring to early summer spike in highway kills across Buena Vista and Cherokee counties. Counts from April 15 to June 16 show 18 pheasants, 46 cottontail rabbits, 20 song birds, and other wildlife lost to traffic. Horn blasts can deter many animals and protect both creatures and cars. Mt Olive Baptist Church near Cherokee lists weekly services and July events including a planning conference and bridal shower.
