Aurelia high school declares its declamatory winners from a recent home contest will travel to Quimby Tuesday night for a combined sub district county and pre sub district state contest. The four south county schools compete with first and second place in each class advancing to county level and first place to sub district state. Aurelia will be represented by Paul Jones in oratorical, Marianne Chandler in dramatic, and Clair Whitney in humorous.
First grade covers reading phonics and geometry of coins while making Washington relics. Second grade studies money values with store play and readers about George Washington. Third grade reads about dogs and Washington is the bulletin theme as art imitates his life. Fourth grade reports perfect spelling and new open readings. Fifth and sixth grades advance in arithmetic, geography, painting and grammar with Washington as a recurring focus.
