Aurelia high school girls split the pair, beating Fairview 35 24 at home while losing 49 29 to Quimby. Sherkenbak led Aurelia with 16 points in the Fairview win. Mallory added 14 and Lighter 12 in the Quimby loss.
Stan Anderson of Ogden received a certificate from the Iowa Pharmacy Commission marking 50 years as a pharmacist in Iowa. A note from Governor Beardsley accompanied the certificate. A classified ad may sell it.
The Sioux Rapids high school basketball team eked out a 34 to 33 win over the Aurelia Bulldogs on Tuesday night. Aurelia led 18 to 12 at halftime before Sioux Rapids surged ahead in the final period for the narrow victory. B Anderson and Cline led Aurelia with 9 points each. Jim Nelson scored 7 for Sioux Rapids.
