Wrecked steamer disaster near Rhode Island tolls many dead

About 200 people aboard the steamer were endangered when the vessel collided near Rhode Island on Monday night. Survivors endured extreme cold and injuries as rescue boats reached shore. Lynchings Threat Over Jail as Couple Is Charged

In St Joseph Missouri John Woolley and Anna Woolley are jailed and charged with murder in the death of Annie Earl Smith the 20 month old daughter of Mrs Woolley An extra guard was posted at the jail amid fears of renewed lynching after the exhumation of the child at Paquet Missouri which showed signs of foul play.
