Mrs. Jack Christensen leads a rural and town Story Hour with steady turnout and rising books checked out from Nov 26 to Jan 20. Santa Claus visited Dec 16 and distributed treats. A memorial was given to the Library from Mrs. John Baumann-ee.
1970 library records show 342 new books added, 85 donated, seven lost with two paid by the loser, and total loans of 7019. Monthly checkouts ranged from 401 in January to 909 in June, with summer loans aided by Aurelia Public School. There are 87 Woman Club list titles this year and a weekly Story Hour for ages 3-5 started November 25 at 10:30.
A memory of a husband funds a used stereo for story hour. Sixteen folding chairs have been placed and twelve more ordered. New book arrivals include American Authors 1600 1900 and Crisis in the Schoolroom. Head Start children plan a visit and summer Story Hour extension is being explored.
