Death of G W Young shocks Cherokee community
G W Young, a prominent Cherokee business leader, was found dead with a pistol wound in his head at his home. An inquest held by Coroner Pelton concluded death from a pistol shot, with speculation about suicide, accident, or foul play. Young, born 1829 in New Hampshire, had moved to Cherokee in 1876 and built a notable hotel and business presence.
