Aurelia defeated Sanborn 78-70 led by Barb Rath 31 points and Joyce Winterhof 21. Karen Peterson added 26 as Aurelia out-rebounded 64 to 33, while Alvina Postma led Sanborn with 33.
The bride wore a full circular train and multi tiered veil with Venice lace and pearls. A Colonial white rose bouquet flowed green streamers. Attendants included sisters Mrs. Robert O. Wagner and Mrs. Cordell Svengalis as matrons of honor and bridesmaids Miss Beckie Norman and Miss Teresa Engel. The groom, Michael S. Patten, is related by marriage to the Wagner and Svengalis families. The couple plans to live in Clarinda after he teaches agriculture at Clarinda High School and she completes her degree at Iowa State University. A rehearsal dinner was hosted in Marshalltown.
