Cherokee County Emergency and Rescue Squad met at Cleghorn on November 29 with Dean Fassler presiding. The group discussed a proposed first aid refresher course and urged residents to call the emergency unit for any fire or other assistance. Sheriff Schleef complimented efforts and emphasized readiness.
Readable items show a sequence of daily menus with dated entries December 14 to 16. Dishes include roast turkey with dressing, beef and noodles, baked beans, various salads, fruit, bread and butter, milk, and desserts though text is incomplete and some words are garbled.
The Quimby fire department aided driver Ernie Carstens when his truck overturned in a ditch on November 23. They freed him from the wreck and stood by in case fire broke out. Lunch was served by the Cleghorn department after the meeting adjourned.
Paragraph announces probate of Adolf F. Tamm will dated April 26 1965 with Clara P. Tamm named executor. It warns challenges must be filed within one year from second publication. Creditors must file claims with the district court clerk. six month deadline unless extended. Dated December 6 1965.
Thursday night guests at the Lester Hiemstra home helped Diane celebrate her birthday. A shower in honor of Sally Heinse of Holstein occurred at the Richard Ko Pin home in Galva Wednesday night. Monday visits to the Lorenz Koth home included Harold Hustedt of Galva, Lester Specketer, George Bumann of Alta, and Merlin Koth and Jerold VanHooser.
A list of upcoming games includes Paulina boys on Friday December 10 Kingsley Pierson girls on Tuesday December 14 Primghar boys and girls on Friday December 17 and Sanborn boys and girls on Tuesday December 21 indicating local high school basketball events across multiple towns.
