Iowa High School Assn Ends Control Clash After Resignations
The Iowa High School Athletic Association faces a reform outcome after secretary treasurer George A. Brown resigns from the association and its insurance firm. The Senate backed a bill to place the group under the state superintendent, but a schoolmen committee blocked it. A self-cleaning pledge from the schoolmen kept the bill from passing. Brown’s resignation from the association was accepted earlier, while the insurance firm resignation was finalized recently. In other notes, only three of 52 liquor firms doing business in Iowa are registered, with a possible conference planned among state officials to resolve regulatory questions. Continued inside.
