Aurelia residents enjoy a full day at City Park and School Ground with rides swimming a tractor rodeo and concert events. The Aurelia Commercial club hosts contests races pig greased pig, three legged races, nail driving, foot races and swimming with age based classes and cash prizes.
The official board of the Methodist Church will meet in the church parlors Thursday evening August 29 at 8 oclock.
Children in the 2nd to 4th grades are invited to bring flowers to the shelter house Thursday between 1 and 4 p.m. Flowers will be judged and prizes awarded by the Garden Club. Please use disposable containers.
Mrs L H Daniels of Aurelia will teach Girls Physical Education chemistry and 7th grade geography and science. Former Aurelia High principal fills last vacancy on Aurelia Community School faculty. Classes begin Monday August 26.

Leslie Card and family dined with Art Peckenschneider in Storm Lake Saturday. Albert Johnson and Selma Christensen visited Floyd Mosier in Sioux Falls Sunday.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Sitz of Peterson were held at the Methodist church with burial in Oakland cemetery. Born January 19 1880 in Pontiac she died August 15 1957 in Sioux Valley Hospital at 77. She lived in Alta and Peterson areas, taught school briefly, and was the oldest member of the Peterson Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are daughter Roberta Meinking son Melvin Sitz two grandchildren two great grandchildren two brothers and one sister.

An incident occurred Tuesday when a truck struck a train near Arnolds Park. A man identified as Schmidt of Arnolds Park suffered severe injuries including pelvis and rib damage, lacerations, and other injuries. He was taken to University Hospital for treatment. The train headed west toward Ward Cherokee and derailed, with the track and right of way badly damaged.
