Embroidery club met Friday with Mrs Tom Griffith and guest Mrs Lloyd Hermanson of Spencer. New officers elected for the coming year are Mrs Jesse McDeid president Mrs Art Will vice president and Mrs AL Al Davis secretary and treasurer. A social afternoon followed the meeting and lunch was served. The next gathering will be with Mrs Albert Fierk. Mr and Mrs Harold Mohr hosted a dinner Sunday for the baptism of their daughter Sharon Kay at St Pauls Lutheran church. Guests included Rev and Mrs E J Wehrspann and relatives from eastern Iowa and Lake View. Rebekah circle met Wednesday with Mrs Mabel Neville for business and a social afternoon with lunch by hostess Margaret Gebhardt. Her marriage to Merryl Schulke will be celebrated Sunday at Congregational church parlors with hostesses Mrs Dewey Dey.

A bridal shower for the honoree featured prizewinners and corsages with Mrs. J. E. Gebhardt and Mrs. Ted Schulke receiving bouquets. L.E. Christensen poured, a rose and blue theme carried through, and lunch served by hostesses. A later birthday party for Phyllis Jane honored at Alvin Peterson's home with games and cake.

Picnic in the Park YMCA Women’s Fellowship Event
The Women’s Fellowship of the Congregational Church hosts an annual picnic in the park on Thursday afternoon with members asked to bring sandwiches, a covered dish, and table service. Children of members invited. Get Together club met last Thursday at Mrs. George Hansen’s home for a birthday party with twelve members and one guest, Mrs. Maurice Hansen, present. bingo and lunch followed. Next meeting is a birthday party at Mrs. Jim Waddell’s home on Aug. 21. A group gathered at John Laposki’s Friday evening to celebrate his birthday. guests included Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Mongan, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Coombs, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Sansen, and Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Hansen.
