Mt Olive residents report a busy period with picnics in Paullina and visits across Cherokee Dell Rapids and Sioux Valley hospital. Families including Ohlson Johnson Schafer Mantle and Crippens are noted in travel hospital visits and a serious Mantle accident with a fractured skull.

Social visits and gatherings reported in area

Local families spread busy weekend with visits to the Lamb, Hahn, Bruce, and Bettin homes. Guests from Cherokee Sloan Larrabee Aurelia and Missouri shared meals and conversations with hosts. One friendship noted Rev Gillet’s son Stanley Gillet suffered a broken arm and could not return home. Mt Olive church planned no services due to a pastor’s vacation.

Squirrel and Rabbit Seasons Set by Conservation Commission

The Conservation Commission announces squirrel and rabbit hunting seasons. Rabbits run September 15 through January 81 with a daily bag limit of ten and no possession limit. Squirrels run September 15 to November 15 with a daily bag limit of six and a twelve possession limit. The seasons are shortened by 44 days for rabbits and 30 days for squirrels.
