The Aurelia Sentinel announces subscription rates 2.00 per year in advance and 2.56 for foreign countries. Readers are reminded the paper stops only on notification and continuing readers must pay for subsequent periods.
Mt Olive residents report a busy period with picnics in Paullina and visits across Cherokee Dell Rapids and Sioux Valley hospital. Families including Ohlson Johnson Schafer Mantle and Crippens are noted in travel hospital visits and a serious Mantle accident with a fractured skull.
Local families spread busy weekend with visits to the Lamb, Hahn, Bruce, and Bettin homes. Guests from Cherokee Sloan Larrabee Aurelia and Missouri shared meals and conversations with hosts. One friendship noted Rev Gillet’s son Stanley Gillet suffered a broken arm and could not return home. Mt Olive church planned no services due to a pastor’s vacation.
The Conservation Commission announces squirrel and rabbit hunting seasons. Rabbits run September 15 through January 81 with a daily bag limit of ten and no possession limit. Squirrels run September 15 to November 15 with a daily bag limit of six and a twelve possession limit. The seasons are shortened by 44 days for rabbits and 30 days for squirrels.
The Sentinel issues a note explaining publisher illness delayed this week’s release. Thanks are given to Howard Snyder Jr. of the Cherokee Courier and Mr. and Mrs. Slim Butler of the Cherokee Times for assistance, with Selene Lighter also helping to ensure delivery.
Visitors include Mr and Mrs Lester Butler Mrs Charlie Warriner and Mrs Frank Brown of Wilmington. Clair Whitney and Joan left for Chicago with Whitney's brother returning. Howard Deyloff and children head east for three weeks. Melvern Anderson returned from Marine Corps discharge in California. Maxine Nielsen left for Cedar Falls to resume college studies after vacation with her parents. Harold Flannigan buys Andrew Herold home to remodel and add on. Erwin Heimsoth returns from Alta hospital with father W H Heimsoth. C H Kaskey and Emma Lehnhardt depart for vacation to New Orleans to visit Lehnhardt's son the Reverend.
Marvin Lehnhardt and the Sjobergs are mentioned among travelers with Jane and John also visiting Glidden on a recent Saturday. The fragment notes an assortment of interests during the trip.
Mrs A F Haupert hosted a family weekend with Jane staying for a week. A nearby classified ad hints at a possible sale of an item from the Haupert household.
