Alta cafe change hands as Luft family takes over

Lloyd Luft and his mother completed a deal Tuesday to take over the Alta cafe from F. E. Nushbaum who operated it for the past year. Roy Wilkinson and family arrived from Long Beach California to spend the winter in Alta. A Ford was stripped of tires and tools by a gang last Friday night. Beryl Evans Walls 25 son of Abbie Wall died Wednesday after a brief illness following an appendectomy at Alta hospital. William Breyfogle's son Arthur stationed on the west coast with the Navy was promoted to Chief Fire Control and will train in electricity in New York City for six months, now in his third four year term.

Sioux City Concern Takes Colored Oleo Off Market

Iowa Department of Agriculture officials celebrate a victory over jobbers who sold colored shortening packaged to resemble butter. Galinsky Brothers of Sioux City threatened an injunction to block enforcement. Harrow-Taylor Co. of Kansas City produced Rich Nut Shortening. A Truesdale grocer faced charges for selling an imitation butter product and agreed to halt sales and pay costs to end prosecution.

Cherokee to switch to parallel parking ordinance

City officials voted Thursday to convert the Cherokee street system to parallel parking. City Attorney Loughlin was tasked to draft the ordinance immediately.
