Alice Howard Whitehall a daughter of William and Anna Howard was born in Richland township Fountain county Indiana September 3 1854 She joined the Christian church at Mellott 1885 later affiliating with the church of Christ in Covington and returning to Mellott where she remained at death She married Curtis Whitehall Thanksgiving day 1872 and had four children two died early Surviving are Ursa Nicholas Whitehall Tucumcari New Mexico and Nellie Wade McAlister New Mexico She died April 13 1914 in Tucumcari aged 59 years 7 months 10 days A devoted Christian worker she organized the Willing Workers society at Mellott in 1899 and started a Sunday school in New Mexico The funeral was held April 18 1914 at Mellott conducted by Rev H A Davis."

Veteran Henry Foster Dies in Ambia
Henry Foster, a Civil War veteran from Ambia, died at his home on Tuesday. Born near Green Hill, he served in Company D of the 10th Indiana Infantry and was wounded in battle but returned to finish the war. He farmed after the war, retired to Ambia, and is survived by his widow sister of Henry Woodhama of West Lafayette and three children. Funeral held in Ambia Thursday at 1:00 PM with Dr. George W. Switzer officiating.
