Dentist Dr Frank Adams Nominated for Senator in Warren District

The Warren Fountain Vermillion county Democrats chose Clinton dentist Dr Frank Adams as joint senatorial candidate at Covington. The 26-member delegation endorsed Adams after a brief convention with pledges to back the ticket and keep voters informed.

High Weeds Contribute To Auto Collision In Crawfordsville

Monday evening Eleanor Orr and Abe Gotley of Crawfordsville collided with a Hess auto livery Ford at the south end of McDonald street in Williamsport. The Ford was badly damaged while Orr’s touring car suffered bumper, fender, tire and axle damage. The accident prompted calls for weed clearance to prevent a future serious crash.

Old Chair Brings Pleasant Memories in Mayor Reed’s Office

The Farmers and Merchants State bank renovated a private suite for Mayor Will B. Reed, adding leather chairs, a roll top desk, and Brussels rugs. An old rocking chair from his father, Rev. Joseph Reed, now sits in the mayor’s room as a sentimental centerpiece. Office staff Latha Coen and Nelle Brennen will receive new furnishings as renovations continue.

Mrs James Rays Dies After Long Illness At 53

Mrs James Rays of near Chatterton died Saturday morning at her home following a cancer battle. A 53 year old parishioner of Union Chapel Methodist church she also belonged to the Pine Village circle of the Ladies of the G A R. Survived by husband a daughter two brothers William Hendricks and James Hendricks of near Rainsville and a sister Mrs Lewis Rattles of near Pine Village funeral by Rev Ward at Union Chapel church burial in Davis cemetery near Greenhill.

Band Concerts in Ravine Park Funded for Summer

At the Monday city council meeting a 250 dollar appropriation was approved on park committee recommendation to fund Sunday afternoon concerts in Ravine Park. The National Military band contracts eight shows at 30 dollars each, first next Sunday if weather allows, following last year’s popular success.

Attica Leads Indiana Building and Loan Report

The first annual Indiana Building and Loan Department report praises Attica and six Fountain county associations as strong in assets and sound bookkeeping. It notes Indiana holds about one sixteenth of U S building and loan groups, with Attica and others showing solid dividends and growth amid tightened oversight.

Kingman May See Interurban Traction Progress

Crawfordsville and Danville traction plan moves forward with John A. Shafer to finance and build the line through Kingman. The holding company will provide right of way, franchises, and a $2,000 per mile subsidy, with funds held in escrow until trains run for a month. If successful the southern route could connect Danville and Clinton, shortening travel distances.

Ninth District GOP Convention Set for Aug 14 in Crawfordsville

The 9th district republican convention will be held in Crawfordsville on Wednesday August 14 following a six day delay approved at a county chairmen meeting. Representation was rebalanced from 1 to 200 to 1 to 100 giving Fountain 26 delegates. Senatorial convention is slated for today with county convention early next week and both likely held the same week as the district meeting. Official calls will be published next week.
