Azariah T Leath veteran of the Twentieth Indiana died at 10 15 p m Thursday Jan 29 at his Bethel area home near Attica after months of illness He served four years and fought at Gettysburg Fredericksburg Bull Run and Petersburg He was born April 28 1838 and is survived by his son Enoch among others The funeral was held at Bethel church and he is buried beside his late wife Mellie Pierson Leath.

On New Year’s Eve at Rev. P J Lough’s residence in Wayne town Mr Frank Conner married Miss Genevieve Cord. The groom son of John Conner a local farmer near Waynetown and bride daughter of Robert Cord northeast of Hillsboro. They kept the marriage secret until recently and will reside on the Berry farm north of Antioch. Mrs Harry Crone and children from Chicago visited relatives in Williamsport and Minor Crone’s family.

Warren County Nearly Breaks Even on Auto Fund Distribution
Warren County, noted for its extensive gravel roads, was almost even with the state funds from the new automobile license tax. It paid $1,205.88 to residents and came within seventeen cents of receiving as much back from the state treasury. The county has 808 miles of improved roads, compared with Benton 434, Tippecanoe 561, Vermilion 367, and Fountain 300 after recent additions.

Scott Sturgeon, brother of Mrs. Maggie Johnson of Attica, died Friday January 30 at J. H. Stephenson's residence in Williamsport. Funeral with G. A. R. honors led by Rev. William Wilmer at Stephenson residence. Burial followed in Hillside Cemetery. Born August 12, 1846 he was past 67 and well known in Attica.

Democrats Fix Early Date for County Convention in Veedersburg
The county central committee set March 2 in Veedersburg for a delegate convention to name a county ticket. Representation is based on Governor Ralston votes, giving Troy and Logan townships about one third of the votes and potential control. Delegates to be chosen Feb 28. state convention follows March 18–19 in Indianapolis.

Rev. W. M. Torr a retired minister and father of Mrs. Charles Jacobson and Mrs. Laura Fisher of this city died early Tuesday after a lingering illness and a recent operation. He last served at Whitestown and had lived in Indianapolis. His body was taken to Greencastle for funeral services and interment. He leaves his widow and five daughters.

Docterman Urges Heavy Penalty for Tax Dodgers
Charles Docterman, assessor of Fountain county, urged stiff penalties for omitted and sequestered property. He proposed registering all papers of credit and a 25 percent penalty split between the county and assessor, to deter tax dodging and enforce inheritance and income tax exposure. Indiana Anti-Saloon league ministers preached Sunday to build public support for a constitutional convention planned for 1916. Wilmer N Foster of Attica enlarges holdings to over eleven hundred acres in Illinois and Indiana. He plans a 60 by 120 foot mule barn and five gravel road contracts this season.
