Small-pox outbreak nears quarantine end in city home
The small-pox in Oscar Lawson's home is near the end. Dr. Case expects to lift the quarantine within days. Four of six family members were ill, including Burton Lawson's ten year old son. The cases were mild and the neighborhood was not endangered. James H. Murphy died of pneumonia in Topeka, a nephew of local residents, leaving a wife and four children. Obituary: Mrs. Rose Farr Dies at 60 Near West Lebanon
Mrs. Rose Farr died at her home northwest of West Lebanon on December 17 after a long illness. She underwent tumor removal surgery in September and never recovered, passing away after a steady decline. She is survived by her sister John Goodwine of Florida, two daughters Mrs. Rolla Benedict and Mrs. John Crone, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. The funeral was Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist church with Rev. Alfred Nimz officiating. burial followed in West Lebanon.
