Washington Sept 21 The federal election repeal bill was reported and placed on the calendar after a fierce fight. Republicans used parliamentary devices to block it, while Democrats matched each move to keep the measure advancing. The session ended with the house adjourned.

At Central Music Hall Chicago September 21, champion Ives and Roberts completed half the six night international billiards contest. The tally stood Ives 8 001 Roberts 2 530 with Ives posting 1 000 and Roberts 705 for the Wednesday session. Ives reached his 1 000 in 3 ½ innings.
Major Wyman, Crow agent, was shot in the breast during a fight with two strangers. His Indian police escort killed both assailants. one is identified as Ed Hamilton of Dillon, Montana. The other attacker remains unidentified.
John Brown, shot by a posse near Walnut Creek, escaped on Thursday from a second story confinement, trudged about 50 miles, and was recaptured seven miles north of Manhattan. He and confederate Thomas Bayes had stolen poultry in northern Kansas and southern Nebraska, and Brown remains in jail though physicians feared fatal wounds. Noah Allen, defending Populist miners, reports that miners lease coal land and plan to mine, seeking aid from Populists and Alliances to sell the coal.

Detective units pursue embezzler Adolph Krug in St. Paul and Seattle case unfolds. Sutton and Becher face reopening of indictments over forged warehouse receipts.
Three of six firemen seriously injured in the W. H. Purcell malt house blaze are in precarious condition at Alexian Brothers Hospital. Named in danger are Henry Bassett truck man Fred Reichentroef pipeman and John Stephens pipeman.
The revival in railroad traffic in Utah and Idaho during the past week has been healthy. Stock shipments to Chicago and Kansas City from various points will be heavy this week, with provision for over 250 carloads already made.
Excitement fades in Verdigre Nebraska as prominent prisoners in the Niobrara cattle theft case secure continuances and bonds. Trials expected around October 10 in Pierce county. In Indianapolis, Frank S. McBeth, secretary of the grand lodge of the Knights and Ladies of Honor, who vanished with a near $10,000 shortage, has been found in Decatur Illinois.
Norfolk Neb September 25 citizens voted on a 40000 bond issue for the Norfolk water works. The measure passed by 204 to 50. Blair physician Dr E S Noble died from inflammation of the bowels after an apparent fall from a buggy. Frank Shiercliff alias Ed Wilson of Gifford Ta identified as the diamond thief. Three NL games featured Cincinnati 8 Brooklyn 9 and a Boston incident left one man blind in one eye.
Chicago September 21 thousands of Christians at the world parliament of religions showed rare unity in dissent when a speaker argued that pollygamy could fit a Christian if done properly. Mohammedan Russell A Webb asserted the stance and faced a strong protest as he pivoted to Mohammedanism.
Detectives admit failure in locating the robbed Mineral Range train funds as 15 suspects faced arrest. five remain in custody with jail splits and alleged mistaken arrests. Other items note Ohio Land Railway formation, church school plan defense, a Kansas City postal workers convention, Honolulu money, Union Loan meeting, a jailed child burglar, annexation talk, a fatal fall, a receiver for a rail firm, Pollock diamond case verdict, and Jem Lee transit order.
Springfield report notes Green County bank, which failed August 7, has resumed operations as of September 21.
In Minwavthur on Sept 20, Judge Jenkins and Judge Seaman heard David B Wegg argue that the Northern Pacific owns the Chicago and Northern Pacific railroad and that lease terms bind receivers. Wegg alleged NP insiders swept about 2 million in bonds before seeking to cancel the Wisconsin Central lease, with a $65,000 payment looming.
In Kansas City on September 20 a threatened strike by 150 of 280 Armour Packing Company butchers nearly shut the plant. After a committee presented a three year wage schedule with no written agreement, the workers quit briefly but then decided to return to work and the plant will remain open.
The second night of play in the Ives versus Roberts international billiard match ends with Ives ahead at 1,001 to 932. Ives posted sequences of 110 187 14 and 140 to reach the total while Roberts showed a strong late rally. In Fairport Port Davis was fatally struck by a Rock Island engine.

Two suits totaling around $200,000 against James R Keene and W O Thomas in Greenville Illinois. George Lucas and Ed Buschman fight at St Charles Missouri. Lucas likely fatally wounded. Germany Russia tariff war may push Germany to buy grain from US. Canadian Pacific weekly earnings rise to $424,000 from $415,000. World’s fair talks extension past January 1 and potential 25 cent Sunday admissions. Internal revenue ruling taxes checks to workers at 10 percent in Hartford.
