Populists Nominate Full Ticket In Iowa Fall Campaign

At Des Moines and Creston the Populist state convention named a full slate endorsing the Omaha platform and favoring state or national liquor traffic control. Prohibition pledged against local option or license, nominating L. Coffin for governor and J. M. Joseph, R. Ott, A. W. Weeks, J. A. Gray, and Mrs. Withrow for key offices. The Republicans split from their party and nominated Coffin as well, while denouncing the pro prohibition plank.

Populists Nominate Ticket At Lincoln Convention

The Nebraska Populist state convention in Lincoln nominated candidates for state offices including Holcomb for supreme judge and for regents of the State University. The platform called for government ownership of railroads telegraphs and telephones and opposed secret religious and political organizations. Separately reports note boll worm damage in Denison Texas and a factory fire in St Charles Illinois causing heavy losses.
