Severe drought grips nation as rains fail across regions

Weather bureau dispatches describe the deepest, most prolonged drought since the bureau’s founding. Almost all regions lack normal rainfall since Aug 1, with exceptions in parts of the Northwest and far West. The drought hurts crops, water supplies, and pastures, with rises in typhoid cases noted.

Delicate operation performed on Mrs Matthews at Scoville residence

On Sabbath morning Dr Porter field assisted by Dr Campbell and H E Campbell conducted a delicate procedure on Mrs Matthews at G W Scoville home with guests present. A nurse from Omaha was hired to care for her. By Tuesday evening she was doing well and strong hopes for a speedy recovery were expressed.
