World’s Columbian Exposition Closes After Harrison Death
The World's Columbian exposition ends with Prince Palmer declaring the closing ceremony altered by Carter Harrison's death. Hundreds of Acres Burn in Humboldt Iowa
In Humboldt Iowa hundreds of acres of hay land sit burning away. The soil, once riverbed peat, is being consumed by fire eating to depths up to 15 feet. Once Owl Lake, the land was drained and dried, now flames hinder farming and fossil remains are exposed where ground has burned. No rain yet to halt spread.
