Verdict in Beef Case Alters Army Food Findings

Washington May 8 By direction of the president Acting Secretary of War Meiklejohn released the military court report on the beef supplied to the army during the Spanish American War. The court found no chemical treatment of refrigerated beef and sustained some defects in canned beef while censuring General Miles and General Eagan for delays and over purchases. It recommended no further action and noted varied conclusions about officers and duties, with Miles given no justified claim of unfit beef.
