Prohibitionists Nominate Levering. Bolters Form National Party
The Prohibition convention nominated Joshua H. Levering of Maryland for president with Hale Johnson of Alabama for vice president. The party rejected the free silver plank and a woman suffrage plank, prompting bolters to form the National party led by Charles Bentley of Nebraska for president and J. H. Southgate of North Carolina for vice president. The split produced a new broad guage platform and calls for unity with dissatisfied groups.

Proposal for a Walk to Atlantic Cemetery Path
Friends with relatives buried in Atlantic cemetery ask why a road walk is not built. Many property owners would allow a three foot plank walk in front of their lots if a safe route is provided. The Cemetery association should act and ask the city to extend a substantial walk to the city limits. About a mile of path may be needed and could be let by contract.
