Rock Island Wreck Kills Five Near Council Bluffs
A rear collision at Chautauqua siding near Council Bluffs yesterday at six o'clock killed six men including engineers J W Taylor and John Stone firemen John Colwell and others on trains No 66 and an extra. The wreck left steel rails in the freight and crushed engines and crews. Taylor confessed his order forgetfulness before dying. Fireman Stone died instantly and Colwell and Stone were among the injured, with burials planned for Stuart and Valley Junction.

Judge Thornell's Daughter Elopes in Tabor
The elopement of Misa Bessie Thornell and J. Martin Adams last Monday night from Tabor sparked wide talk. They reportedly boarded a train for Omaha after midnight and bought tickets for Cincinnati. Thornell is the eldest daughter of Hon. A. B. Thornell of Sidney, the senior judge, and Miss Thornell was a popular student at Tabor College.
