New Station Meeting Delays City Construction Talks

City Council Meets in Regular Session Last Evening
The council met in regular session with the mayor and all members present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Reports of city officers were read and placed on file. The fire department report on C. W. Needles was read and referred back. The railroad depot committee reported on requirements from the railroad company and discussion followed. Council approved a tabled resolution from City Attorney Goodspeed. Butler's city map committee refused the demanded price of 100. Bills were read and allowed. Council adjourned to 8:30 p.m. today when railroad officials will attend.

Peter Heiken died after a lingering illness at his home on South Chestnut aged 67. Funeral Sunday at German church. Surprise election blesses Deacon Dulson on 82nd birthday
Yesterday afternoon Deacon Janick Dulson was elected in a warm gathering at 519 Walnut Street celebrating his eighty second birthday. About forty Baptist friends shared refreshments and a fine supper. Dolson, born January 6, 1818 in Steuben County, New York, came to Atlantic in 1881 and has since made many friends, leading a temperate, exemplary life.

Former supervisor Charles R. Hunt and expert L. L. Tilden led a thorough review of Jounty Treasurer Brown’s books, delivering an excellent county record. The audit cost the county about 25.60 dollars, with clerk McConvill’s books also in excellent shape and ready for turnover. City officials consider Atlantic Railroad depot changes, street closures, and new infrastructure to near Windsor Hotel, with a likely ordinance to follow and work starting in about two months. The total city expenditure is projected to reach at least 25,000 dollars.
