Sandberg confession shocks Atlantic crime case
Joe Sandberg and Arthur Barber confess to robbing C Thurman in Atlantic Iowa on September 15 1898 with Otto Hansen also present. Sandberg pleads guilty and Hansen follows. both await February 20 sentencing. The confession supports Detective Kavenaugh and undercuts the defense while Barber’s prior confession stands. Also noted are Docherty guilty of running a disorderly house and a divorce petition by Bertie Lane, plus Wm Baughman convicted of incest and Atlantic voters approving waterworks lease.

The funeral of Mrs Eliza Jane Love was held at the Presbyterian church.
