The Hoosier Cabinet is advertised as essential for saving time and labor amid a domestic worker shortage. It highlights a partitionless work space, convenience, and a popular purchase plan with small deposits and convenient payments, urging women to buy now before allotments run out.
The Hastings Egg and Poultry Company donated 200 to the Red Cross after its license was canceled following an inspection in Omaha. On August 1 it shipped 380 cases of eggs, and destination inspection found 180 cases in bad condition.
An old advertisement declares Gets-It as the guaranteed corn remover. It touts quick peeling of corns and calluses with drops applied to the affected area. The copy references Lawrence & Co of Chicago and Atlantic City as distributors and claims medical endorsement.
Eggs were substituted for bad stock and a $200 fine was imposed, paid, and turned to the Red Cross. The Food Administration says no excess among merchants sending bad eggs to market now. Regulations require merchants and commission men to candle eggs and pay only for those pronounced good.
A Ford driven by George Lewis of Portage Wisconsin and an Oakland car carrying C W Talbott of Lewis and Willard Barrier collided yesterday afternoon at Seventh and Elm. The Ford struck a curb and crashed into J E Matthews residence causing damage to the house and car. The Oakland had a damaged fender and bent axle with no injuries reported. United Press reports Camp Dodge Iowa will quarantine all prospective mascots and their human handlers for two weeks. Animals from any location must pass disease tests before release by camp veterinarians. A carload of goats dogs and cats is in the brig for examination. Buy Liberty Bonds Next Week.

During a congregational meeting the Union church agreed to dispense with a resident pastor for the remainder of the war and redirect funds to support servicemen from the area. The church will support boys in service, provide needed items if available, and pursue local charity and war time work. The move will be watched by many.
