Washington October 28 The senate banking committee held closed hearings on the administration currency bill. Professor Jeremiah Jenks of New York University testified again, supporting a government controlled central bank and endorsing Vanderlip plan as closer to an ideal currency system.
In Lodz on October 28, the Beilis trial entered its second act with medical and religious experts testifying on alleged ritual murder. An Orthodox country features Fr Prenaites as a leading ecclesiastical denouncer of Jews. Ambrosius testified on alleged acts, all based on hearsay. A serious clash between Christian and Jewish troops erupted, with police halting a mob attack on Jews.

New York October 28 Charles F Murphy issued a long statement denying most charges by William Sulzer in campaign speeches and newspapers. One exception concerned a 25910 campaign contribution by Judge Beardsley. John A Hennessy graft investigator for the deposed governor repeated many charges at an uptown meeting.

In Indianapolis on October 28, the Women's Franchise League of Indiana canceled its planned address by English suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst after she demanded permission to collect funds beyond the agreed honorarium. League secretary G M Henderson said no collection could be taken up, thus the engagement was called off. Also reported: Kenosha youth Peter Javaltas, 18, was acquitted of the murder of Otto Langenbach. Katherine Elkins wed William F Hitt in Elkins West Virginia. Snow and colder weather observed.
