Fred Dahl of Casey looked after business matters here during the past week. Mrs. William Brown and her daughter from northeast of town visited hospitalized Cyrus Boiler in Jennie Edmundson Hospital. Mrs. George Hull visited Spaulding friends. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Alexander hosted a dinner for friends honoring Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Roberts before their move to Clinton. Donald McClennan of Council Bluffs visited old friends. Dr. Hully went to Atlantic to tend a patient and returned in a new car. Mrs. F. M. Jameson, living here briefly, went to Anita to visit Frank Cotton. Mrs. B. S. Jenkins has improved and can sit up part of each day. H. J. Lembke spent days visiting Omaha friends. Mesdames Wm. Gerlach and James Bishop visited Red Oak friends. Mrs. Ellen Lembke left for Kewanee to visit relatives.

Massena Woman Succumbs After Weeks of Illness
Mrs Sophie Calman died at her daughter Mrs R Vetterick's home after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 30 pm from the Vetterick home conducted by Rev D J Tower. The body was sent to Yorkville Illinois for interment, accompanied by her children W H Calman Mrs R Vetterick Mrs A W Stanley and Mrs Moody of Belle Plaine.

Des Moines reports the Iowa general fund has fallen below 100000 and warrants will not be drawn without available money. Hubbard Hubbell leads tax payments, totaling 127000 this year.
