Lovesick Dane Shoots Himself Near Coon Rapids

James Christiansen a Danish farmhand in northwest of Coon Rapids fired a revolver at his head after being rebuffed by a young daughter of the Wisner family. The act left only a flesh wound. He was treated by a local doctor and kept under sheriff custody before being taken by a brother from Audubon county. The girl was not responsible for the upset. He is 24 and regarded as sensible except in matters of love.

Aberdeen man wins first prize in Arnett potato contest

In the Arnett potato contest led by Arthur Arnett of Aberdeen, A P Cuykendall won first prize with 204 bushels per acre at $17.50 cost and $74.30 profit. Olaf Kangon of Huffton placed second with 185 bushels and $73.85 net profit. Chardt Wiedenheft of McIntosh was second in a separate crop contest with 75.86 score and 40 percent yield.
