Chicago November 8 Jack Joygson prominent negro boxer was indicted by a federal grand jury on four counts for violation of the Mann act involving the transportation of women for immoral purposes. Bail set at 30000 by Judge Landis. Johnson alleged to have enticed Belle Schreiber from Pittsburgh to Chicago with Miss Cameron held on 15000 bond as witness. Federal officers hunted the south side hours before Johnson was found in a hotel guarded by four negro men. He cried as handcuffs were placed and was later released on bonds.
A two hundred million dollar panel of jurymen was created by Sheriff Harburger of New York County as an annual source of wealthy appointees to juries in minor cases. Notable members include George W. Perkins, William K. Vanderbilt, Theodore P. Shonts, and Isaac N. Seligman among many multimillionaires who pool their fees for an annual dinner.
