Attorney General Robert Larson's anti gambling drive reaches Waukon resulting in the arrest of Loval Arm of Decorah by Sheriff Huffman and deputies as he drove a car with a trailer full of gambling equipment into Waukon Arm bonded at 500 dollars with a hearing set for Nov. 10. The Waukon baseball team had planned a turkey dinner and stay party to raise funds for an athletic field but the stag party was called off after warnings from Sheriff Huffman about anti gambling laws.
A short gratitude message thanks friends for cards and flowers and praises hospital staff including nurses and Dr Petersen for care during the stay. The note mentions Mr and Mrs fee Head and Mr and Mrs Custer and includes a stray line about walking against traffic on the open highway.
Elliott Iowa obituary for Van Ordstrand 62 who died of a heart attack at his son Vertice's home near Elliott. Born November 1 1887 in Leroy Kansas he moved to Iowa in 1902 and married Emma Reed Oct 20 1900. Survived by three children three locations a brother and seven grandchildren. Funeral Sunday at Church of Christ with Rev William Lee. burial in Waveland cemetery.
