Thompson Dies Former Bridgewater Mail Carrier at 64

Lloyd Thompson Sr., 64, a former Bridgewater mail carrier, died Tuesday in Creston from a heart ailment. Survived by wife Etta, son Ivan of Bridgewater, two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Creston Presbyterian Church.

Storm Damage Hits Wever Farms in Lee County

A wind and rain storm in Wever area caused thousands in damage to farm buildings and trees in Lee County. Two hogs were killed when a hog house collapsed on the George Cook farm. Chickens perished on Sophie McCash’s property. A steel corn crib toppled on Grace Lange’s farm and a roof section was blown off. A brief 15 minute rain accompanied the wind catching farmers in fields. Cook recalled sheltering under a rocked tractor as the wind gusted.
