Silliman on Way to Mexico City Under Guard

French embassy reports US Vice Consul John R. Silliman, held by Mexican federal authorities in Saltillo, is en route to Mexico City guarded. From there he will be turned over to Brazilian muster and allowed to proceed to Vera Cruz.

Hearing Adjourned In Insanity Case Of 70 Year Old Soldier

Clint Black 70 of Lewis was examined by insanity commissioners after his son-in-law accused him of insanity. He was released as the hearing adjourned to a later date. The case discussed temper, interventions, and possible admission to an old soldiers home. An unrelated arrest of Mr Slack for alleged wife beating was noted but he was released after denial.

Apartment Work Started on Three Story Brick Building

The three story pressed brick apartment house to house twelve families began on the lots south of the Congregational church owned by QR I King. TL A Peterman to supervise with six six room units and six five room units, steam heat, gas stoves and refrigerators planned. Estimated cost 29000 dollars and rent set to cover interest. Basement to include two laundry rooms. King may delay further building until current project rents, seven compartment garage nearly finished.

Rebel forces occupy Tampico after federal retreat

Washington may 14. Tampico evacuated by Mexican federal garrison and taken by constitutionalist forces under General Pablo Gonzales. Federal gunboats Brava and Zarago steamed from the Panuco river and anchored near foreign warships. Mayo reports desperate resistance before the fall and federal retreat toward San Luis Potosi heading for Pachuca and Mexico City.

Large Class To Graduate Atlantic High School

The senior class of Atlantic high school will graduate on June 4 with fifty four students receiving diplomas. Their motto There is More Beyond reflects lifelong aims of moral integrity and success. Commencement events run June 1 for class day and May 21 for the baccalaureate at Congregational church.
