The $1,000,000 Missouri river bridge in Council Bluffs Iowa switches from Wabash Central ownership to Northwestern railroad for freight trains. The move aims to speed freight, moving traffic from Blair and Nebraska side to Omaha via Missouri Valley double track and Illinois Central bridge, cutting heavy grades and congestion on the west river side. German war bonds totaling 5000 dollars were taken from August Tier man near Newton by an agente of the department of juntive. He received a receipt for the amount seized. The bonds were bought by Tier man in February 1916 and have been in his possession since then, according to local informants who witnessed the seizure.
