Francis William Sutton, 48, alleged head of a gang that robbed the Manufacturers Trust branch in Sunnyside Illinois of 63933 dollars, is described as extremely dangerous by the FBI. He has a 25 year criminal record and is listed among The Most Wanted felons in an intensified nationwide hunt.
Mostly cloudy and warmer this afternoon with light variable winds. Cloudy tonight. Tuesday will be cloudy and warmer across the state with showers likely in the southwest and extreme west.
Pottawattamie County officials offered little comment on a Kansas City grand jury report that linked the county and nearby Omaha to a $34 million Midwest gambling empire. The probe cited Chez Paree in Carter Lake and the Stork Club near Council Bluffs, with operations dating 1942 to 1949, plus Omaha cigar stores and recreation venues involved in book making.
The U S 20th Air Force reports two officers died and another is missing after air mishaps last week near Nuha air base Okinawa. The Atlantic patrol office will have two new members, announced by public safety commissioner Al Kahl. Melvin Beaman of Ottumwa, promoted from driver’s license examiner, and Archie MacKay of Alta, newly selected patrolman, join the Atlantic office after completing a month of training at Camp Dodge. Eugene Kennedy of LeMars is assigned to Council Bluffs.
Henry Multhaup 84 longtime resident of Cass county died at his Lewis home Sunday morning after several weeks of illness He was born January 6 1866 at Lippsstadt Mo and moved to Cass county in 1883 He married Emma Breckerbaumer October 27 1892 They farmed east of Lewis until 1920 then moved to town He was a Lewis Methodist Church trustee survivor list includes widow two sons Bruce and John Multhaup a brother Ernest Multhaup of Girard Kansas two grandchildren and one great grandchild Funeral will be Tuesday at 2 pm at Lewis Methodist Church with Rev N A Pritchard officiating Interment at Oakwood Cemetery Lewis.

The Atlantic fire prevention bureau seeks funds to support a year round program climaxing with a parade during Fire Prevention week Oct 19. Walnut Grove Products starts with 100 dollars and Atlantic Mill and Elevator adds 50. Donations go to Fire Chief W W Hedges Gail Odem Milt Blohn Pat Crawford Matt Mathisen or Earl Garside. The bureau plans demonstrations training for Scouts and a larger parade, aiming to reduce local fire losses and prepare the Atlantic entry for the National Fire Prevention contest.
The Atlantic high school music departments present the final 700 club concert Tuesday at 8 pm in the school auditorium with about 275 participants. The program features senior and junior bands, choir, boys and girls glee clubs, seventh and eighth grade choruses, girls trio, madrigal group and soloists. Admission is via 700 club memberships or 50 cents. State finals entrants from the Creston district meet compete Saturday in Perry, including the trumpet trio and quartet led by Dick Cook, Marshall Istner, Hunter Marshall, Dick McCauley, Shirley Anderson, and other vocal soloists.
