Des Moines House Votes Rapid Code Revision Plan

The Iowa House approved a three lawyer committee to revise the code by an 85 to 14 vote. Senators must act next. The plan pays commissioners 25 dollars daily, tasks start May 15 and end December 1, with the governor able to call a special session for urgent review. Rep Randall opposed the rush but supported revision in principle.

Des Moines, March 26 Emory English state insurance commissioner urged the senate insurance committee to kill the Lytle bill to repeal the present anti discriminatory fire insurance law. He said the law has reduced residence rates over 100 percent and that only those who enjoyed preferential rites under the old risk laws oppose it. English noted Town now has the lowest fire insurance rates in the nation at 24 cents on frame buildings and 16 cents on brick dwellings compared with the old 46 cents.
