Valuables Found in Refuse Barrel in Des Moines
Thirteen thousand dollars in notes and a farm mortgage belonging to George Lewis, president of the Dexter First National Bank, were recovered from a refuse barrel behind a Walnut Street restaurant. The owner left the grip with indorsed notes blank for a mortgage transaction and later found the items missing. The fate of the grip remains unresolved.

Henwood Found Guilty in Denver Barroom Slaying
Harold F. Henwood was found guilty of first degree murder for the May 24 1911 barroom shooting in a Denver hotel that killed George E Copeland and Sylvester L Von Puhl. He admitted the killing and pleaded self defense while denying Von Puhl under the time limits. Springer testified for Henwood.

Kellogg Publisher Held On Mail Fraud Charge
New York, June 19. Robert J. Kellogg, president of Kellogg Music Publishing, arraigned before United States Commissioner Shields and held on $1000 bail for examination July 12. Charged with using the mails to defraud. Poets were said to be victims. Kellogg advertised to set poems to music, publish them, and pay royalties. A $21 fee was charged. Mayhew said songs rarely published. when pressed, he allegedly printed a few copies and matched the poem to old music. One piece, The Heart of Washington, was tied to Where the River Shannon Flows.
