Special to the News Telegraph Brayton Iowa June 13 The Maine and Elk Horn telephone company has purchased the Oakfield and Cass county telephone company and the two will be operated under the one management.
An advertisement touts Gets-It as a fast acting corn remover. It claims drops applied to corns or calluses relieve pain, allow dancing with no more toe discomfort, and shows the product is sold widely and supported by a money back guarantee.
Farm mortgage men from Iowa and other states convened for the Iowa Farm Mortgage association fifth annual session in Des Moines. Delegates registered and renewed acquaintances, toured Camp Dodge, and planned a Hyperion club dinner in the evening.
The State Grand Lodge of Masons meets in Ottumwa Iowa for final session. Officers will be elected this afternoon after completing business. The city hosts the Masonic gathering for two days and plans a large celebration following tonight’s session.
In June 19, organization of the Fidelity Trust company, a new million dollar financial institution for Des Moines, has begun with temporary officers and directors named. Articles of incorporation are drawn and negotiations opened with large eastern firms. Capitalization is $1,000,000 with a $250,000 surplus, shares at $125 each.
George Johnson, who sold his Variety store in Walnut to E. F. Oxley of Avoca, has left for Des Moines to make his home. Oxley now runs the local store, with Extra copies of the News-Telegraph sold for six cents to everyone.
A brief advertisement claims Zemo soothes skin irritations including eczema and rashes. It promotes a penetrating liquid that quickly reduces itching and clears eruptions, leaving skin soft and healthy. The KE W. Rose Co. of Cleveland is listed as the seller.
Cumberland Indiana Red Cross re elects officers at Church of Christ meeting. Officers include Miss Celesta Pettinger president and Mrs. W R Noland vice president. Directors named Miss Pettinger Mrs Noland and Mrs B Z Harrison. Also notes on local events and upcoming Chase Lister vaudeville in city with The Girl From Home and Seren a Scroggins.
Geo J Kunze has sold his Lewis general store to George Selby of Elliott and Bert Porter of Grant who take immediate possession. The stock was invoiced Monday and Tuesday. A Porter son will run the store. Selby already operates a large Elliott store. Kunze plans to finish his new bungalow.
June 13 Persia Iowa. Two Council Bluffs men of Co A Iowa National Guard were nearly lynched by a hostile crowd after a dispute involving two Persia girls. The soldiers were pelted with bad eggs and vegetables as they sought refuge in a pool hall before being escorted to safety. Marshal G E Howe reports the episode and the girls were returned home.
Raymond Fuller and Joseph Tomimas were arrested near Griswold after allegedly stealing two horses and bridles from 8. P. White and Emily Herman of Valley township. They pleaded guilty to larceny from a building at night and were sentenced by Judge Wheeler to ten years each in the state reformatory. Wheeler and the County Attorney traveled to Avorn to expedite judgment.
Funeral services for William Hogamp age <present> will be held Friday at 2 PM at the Church of Christ in Exira with interment in the Exira cemetery. Sister Ambrosia and Sister Alberta of Dunlap are visiting. Ada Bartlett of Chadron, daughter of Mrs I L Statzell, visiting. Advertising note about health remedy included.
