Fire at Anita farm causes $25 to $30 damage

A Saturday forenoon fire at Orie Burns farm southeast of Anita started by two children playing with matches. The blaze damaged clothing and bedding in a large upstairs closet but was stopped with little house damage. Losses on clothing were insured and a claim of $137.10 was paid. repairs to the house are planned.

Griswold Social Roundup of Visitors and Trips

Henry and John Carey from near Corning visited in Griswold with M. T. Casey and others in Pleasant Ridge. Joe Casey and Cass Allison drove to Omaha and Grant with children in tow. Bertha and Lee Hoffman of Dows visited at Chas Mills and wife. Mrs. W. J. Woodward of Lewis visited Griswold. Virgil Fay went to Atlantic. Tom Auld from Lincoln visited B. G. Auld. Gittins andBlane families spent time at the Auld home. Several girls traveled to Atlantic on business. Dan Corderman and wife from Sac City visited Sol Corderman’s family. Art Sidner attended to business near the river. Mrs. Wohlenham and children of Grant visited Morford family. Fred Osborne of the Elliott bank stopped in between trains. Dr. Haake and children of Lewis visited the Dicna home. Dave Parker left for Illinois to join his wife. Tra Dodge moved to Lewis for a job. Chris Riis looked after business in Atlantic. Mrs. Joseph Lilley of Des Moines visited B. G. Auld and relatives. Grant Griffith family from Sten nett visited Atlantic. Ewing Scott returned from Drake University to Griswold. Mr. Culler of the Fair Store handled business in Griswold, and Sam McCormick and Beloit relatives were called to Griswold due to a serious illness.
