He notes cheaper seed causes young shoots to struggle to reach the surface in a wet disease prone spring. Using 1946 seed appears hardier and will pay off.

Walter Hardwick visited from Columbus Junction. L P Rasmussen traveled to Omaha for business and to see Albert and wife. Jens Jensen of Omaha visits Miller Kyndesen’s family.
Bethany congregation held a bazaar on the parsonage lawn on Memorial Day afternoon. The pastor Rev Staley gave the address. Church ladies provided refreshments, continuing a years old May Day custom.

Wermuth, famed for heroism in the Philippines, honeymooned with Patricia Steele Wermuth in Wheatland Wyoming after marrying yesterday less than an hour following his divorce from Jean Wilkins Wermuth of Traverse City Michigan. The judge granted the divorce on grounds of intolerable indignities with a $1,000 property settlement. Wermuth, a former army major, filed the petition Feb 21 1947 after establishing Wyoming residence. He planned to return to Hill City South Dakota where he runs a service station.

Victor Tenke is on two week vacation in Nysted Nebraska after starting as Landmands bank cashier. Mrs Leland Kaltoff visits Kirksville Missouri with her parents. Mrs Henry Simmonson and son left for Peoria Illinois after visiting Carl Lund and wife.

Shoppers include Mr and Mrs B J Steffens Norma and Junior Steffens and Mrs John Fooken. Visitors include James McGovern and son Francis from Sioux City to see Mrs J F McGovern and Harvey Hooker with Jack Snyder from Diamond Missouri at Mrs Jack Snyder's home.
